               Pacquiao to fight Mosley on May 7, 2011

Manny Pacquiao plans to fight Shane Mosley in his next bout on May 7 in Las Vegas.
Promoter Bob Arum told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the deal will be done after Mosley's lawyers approve the final paperwork for the WBO welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Arum says Pacquiao chose the bout because Mosley is the most accomplished and famous boxer in the field of candidates, which included Juan Manuel Marquez and welterweight champion Andre Berto.
"He's the most recognizable name, and it's a difficult fight for him," said Arum, who met with Pacquiao in the Philippines last week. "People are also saying, 'Well, why hasn't he fought an African-American fighter?' He's doing that, but mostly it's because Mosley is the biggest name."

The list of holidays for 2011 was released by Malacañang on Monday.
Proclamation No. 84, signed by President Aquino, outlined the special and regular holidays for 2011, based on existing laws.
The holidays still follow RA 9492, or the "Holiday Economics" law passed in 2007.
The following regular holidays and special holidays for 2011 shall be observed in the Philippines:
A. Regular Holidays
  • New Year’s Day – January 1 (Saturday)
  • Araw ng Kagitingan – April 9 (Saturday)
  • Maundy Thursday – April 21
  • Good Friday – April 22
  • Labor Day – May 1 (Sunday)
  • Independence Day – June 12 (Sunday)
  • National Heroes Day – August 29 (Last Monday of August)
  • Bonifacio Day – November 30 (Wednesday)
  • Christmas Day – December 25 (Sunday)
  • Rizal Day – December 30 (Friday)

Giant Goldfish: A giant goldfish photo has been circulating the web, starting yet another photoshop controversy.  However, a 30 pound “goldfish” isn’t unlikely, although this isn’t really a run-of-the-mill-pet-store goldfish – it’s a koi carp.

The new bills continue to honor great Filipinos like former presidents Manuel Quezon, Sergio Osmena, Manuel Roxas, and Diosdado Macapagal. As well as former Senator Ninoy Aquino, and war heroes Josefa Llanes Escoda, Vicente Lim, and Jose Abad Santos.
However, the P500 bill now features former President Corazon Aquino, whose photo is placed beside his husband, Ninoy. It also depicts a smiling Ninoy, a far cry from his forlorn image in the current P500 bill.

8 HK tourists killed in Manila bus siege

MANILA, Philippines (8th UPDATE) - Philippine security forces stormed a bus packed with Hong Kong tourists on Monday to end a dramatic hostage crisis that unfolded live on global television, leaving eight people and the gunman dead.
The day-long ordeal began when a disgruntled ex-policeman armed with an M-16 assault rifle and dressed in combat pants hijacked the bus in Manila's tourist district in a desperate bid to get his job back.

Sabi nga “Its better to accept the fact that you are not appreciated than to insist yourself to someone who never really see your worth.” Habang patuloy mong minamahal ang taong yun, lalo kang nasasaktan dahil... natatakot kang tanggapin ang maari pang mangyari na ang taong buong puso mong minahal ay bulag sa pagmamahal mo. Hindi porket mahal mo ang taong yon ay sya na talaga ang para sayo. Natatakot kang mawala ang pinakamamahal mo, pero sya ba takot ding mawala ka?

It is a week before the welterweight fight of the Filipino boxing superstar Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao against the Ghana native, Joshua Clottey. You might be planning to watch and still don’t know where and how to watch it online or offline. Here are the list of some of the methods on how to watch Pacquiao vs. Clottey online or offline:
  1. Live in Dallas – buy your tickets now, you might not able to do it during the fight.
  2. Get a HBO PPV (pay per view)
  3. If you are from the Philippines and have a PLDT MyDSL account starting at 990 plan then you can avail the benefit of watching it live in online streaming for free. They will provide it on their WATCHPAD portal but you need to confirm your interest of watching Pacquiao-Clottey via going to pldtwatchpad.com on or before March 11. I think this is their method of controlling and monitoring the possible traffic that they might have during the fight. The last time that they did the same was with Pacquiao-Cotto and their system crashed and even me wasn’t able to watch it there.

(CBS/ AP)        A massive earthquake devastated Haiti Tuesday, but scientists warned of such an event back in 2008. Back at the 18th Caribbean Geological Conference in March 2008, five scientists warned the Enriquillo-Plaintain Garden fault zone presented a "a major seismic hazard" to Haiti and the Dominican Republic, which share the island of Hispaniola. Tuesday's 7.0-magnitude quake occurred along that same fault line. "We were concerned about it," Paul Mann, one of the paper's authors and a senior research scientist at the University of Texas' Institute for Geophysics, told CNN. "The problem with these kinds of strikes is that they can remain quiescent - dormant - for hundreds of years. So it's hard to predict when they'll occur."
