Giant Goldfish: A giant goldfish photo has been circulating the web, starting yet another photoshop controversy.  However, a 30 pound “goldfish” isn’t unlikely, although this isn’t really a run-of-the-mill-pet-store goldfish – it’s a koi carp.

Given the right food, and enough space to grow, kois can get up to 90 pounds, which is the largest on record. Still yet, some say that in the photograph (which was first published on the UK Daily Mail) the  man holding the fish is holding it as if it is a cardboard cutout and not a 30 pound fish.

The name of the fisherman who caught this creature and more information about when it was caught can be found here.

It’s a really beautiful creature, and one that would look spectacular in a giant bowl in some fusion restaurant. However, the fisherman was only fishing for sport and set the fish free.  Before you head out to your local pond, realize that this giant goldfish was caught in the South of France.

So what do you think? Do you think that the giant goldfish is real or fake? What would you do if you ever caught something like this?
